Description
In this magnificent image, Gingerbread in Bloom, I described an old neighbors’ yellow wood house across the alley from us, using watercolor. I painted the image to be more like an antique keepsake of the late 1800’s time period …built years before, in better times. I love the blue shadows that describe the contours, insets and wood bric-a-brac. It has a front open porch, spindle railings and a red door. The whole front yard is filled with colorful flowers from the street to the front steps. Note the white picket fence separating whole beds of blooms and climbing roses. A flagstone path leads your eye up the hill to the gate, where one is surrounded by color on every side. The old house is just a memory now, but my painted mage lives on as a local treasure.
