Description
I was enjoying abstraction at this time and was seeing how colorful I could make everyday images. I just used light and color in a new way to describe light on the fur with shades of color and threw in a little texture in to spice it up.
What about the background? Really, the background could be anything that connects to the edge of the page. But on this painting, it is a colorful red line or a beautiful, massive rectangle and sprinkles of melted color.
How did I come to make bear paintings? Just across the highway from us in Little Falls, MN is our local zoo, Pine Grove Park and Zoo with bears. A jump start fund raiser started the process of them becoming a wonderful new zoo. I had made a series of bear watercolor paintings for that, one of which they used for a raffle prize. I decided to display these bears here where you can see them.
