Trio Birch 2014

Medium
Painting - Watercolor And Ink
Description
I experienced a wonderful paper birch tree in Southwestern Minnesota that was so beautiful in early fall, I just wanted to paint it. It had lovely white surface bark and curling bark that left orange under layers and also little black marks all over the tree. The scene was part of a very green forest area, so I worked at varying their colors. I played with my special ink pen on this painting so to capture the intricate activity noted on the surface of the tree bark.

Thank you, Laurel, for bringing the birch tree up close to us. The inside of the bark is an orange color, stripes of black are on the outside and they are such a friendly tree... not too big and they grow up with friends.

Fantastic semi-abstract! Terrific color and shape combinations, and even the tiniest thumbnail of it looks great: the subject is as obvious as a photo. l/f

Wonderful painting and colors! fv
Kathy Braud replied:
Thank you, Jim. Glad you like! I think it is the black ink that sets off the birch and makes it pop.

What a pleasing cacophony of colour! You have captured the beauty of the peeling birch so elegantly! Well done! (and yes, that is the spider in "Along Came a Spider") L/F
